In conjuction with new year, this blog entry will be ALL about new year.
For me, Chinese New Year means:
- Eat like an ogre. (Put away that weighing scale!)
- Guilt later.
- Firecrackers from neighbours. (Jet, you are right... Maybe we DO aged already! When I was young *oh my, I sound like an old lady* I love the sound of firecrackers banging here and there. But NOW, I was super annoyed with it!)
- Red packets.
- Reunion dinner with high school friends.
- Meeting up with relatives. (Then, the aunties will *concern* about when you will get married, what's your plan for future, when do you wanna change job, change car, yadda yadda yadda...)
- A reason for shopping.
- HOLIDAY!
Put away the emo side, let's see the CNY check list:
Fake flowers on dried branches. If got money, pussy willow is the best. Decorations for the trees.Wall decorations.A very joyful couple.Kuih bakul. Eat on the last day of CNY. Cut into slices and dip into beaten eggs. Fry until golden brown. Then it's ready to eat! Another option - place sliced kuih bakul in between sliced yam, and dipped into beaten egg, then fry! Mandarin oranges ("kam" = gold). The more sour it is, the more I love it!
Biscuits.Biscuits..Biscuits...
Biscuits! And more biscuits! What's a CNY without prawn cracker......and Shandy?Fatt Choy statue and bamboo tree to usher in good luck and prosperity!*Fa Chai, Fa Fa Chai*

I'll be starting work on 11th Feb... ughh! It's not something I'm looking forward to.
GONG XI FA CHAI again to all! This is the day where you can have great moments with your family and friends. Enjoy every minute of it, and appreciate the people around you... Happy celebrating!!!
11 *twinkles*:
xin nian kuai le! :)
hope you have a lovely CNY among your loved ones. take care and enjoy!
thank u, mekurukito! same to you too!
hey, i ate my kuih bakul the same way too. both with beaten eggs and yam. now i know where the idea came from, the cantonese.
and it's delicious.
but i dunno why we have to save it for the last?!?!?
i dont have prawn crackers... -_-
i have shandy. i will drink it as if it has 45% alcohol and pretend it's super bitter. alcohol is passport to irrational act against my sisters and cousin.
my imagination was ruptured when 10 yo cousin drinks Shandy like a thirsty camel....
my family is at the 9th box of "kam"...hahaha...we will be expecting more.
Happy CNY
p/s: does it mean that i am young if i PRETEND to like the fire-crackers??! can i? can i?
okok... we LOVE firecrackers! kekekke...
ah, do you know that 4 biji of mandarin oranges gives you the sugar of 1 bowl of rice? hehe... i ate less after that!
roses, PLEASE join the reunion dinner! i'll sit next to you!
ah, forgot bout the kuih bakul... we need to save it for the last because we need to wait for it to "harden". then it's easier to be cut into slices...
izzit??? wait for it to harden?!?! that's all? i thought there is some petty tradition or belief.
4biji??!?!?! one bowl of rice?!?!?!
why not u tell me after i consume 20boxes next yr?!?!?!
*faint*
p/s: no wonder i feel some "compactness"
the flowers are really pretty *wink wink..... Happy CNY!!
